During his long life, Catalan painter, sculptor and ceramicist Joan Miró belonged to different artistic movements, earned international acclaim and was a significant influence on late 20th century art, in particular on American abstract expressionism. Miró greatly admired Gaudí, considering Gaudí’s work among his sources of inspiration. In order to honour him, Miró decided to realise a series of engravings titled “Gaudí series”, which was printed by Joan Barbarà on 1979 and exhibited at Galeria Maeght (Barcelona).
