The political commitment to the Republican side of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) of the poet and dramatist Joan Oliver Sallarés (Pere Quart) was expressed in his poetical work "Oda a Barcelona" ("Ode to Barcelona") and in the play "La Fam" ("The Hunger"). Lithograph poster printed front and back: one side, illustrated by Pere Quart's friend Ramón Vinyes (the Catalan wise man of Gabriel García Márquez's masterpiece, "One Hundred Years of Solitude"), expresses the suffering of Catalan people because of the fascist bombing. The back side presents the whole text of  Pere Quart's "Oda a Barcelona". Printed by Com. Propaganda Generalitat Catalunya
